Fortuitously, his missions soon lead him right back into the web of conspiracy he’s searching for, but he soon finds that there’s a high-stakes game of galactic manipulation afoot that spells certain doom for the whole Vagner System unless he intervenes. Only the Guild of Bounty Hunters will hire him (off the books of course) and so to build up funds for his revenge, Mace joins up.
When he gets out, he’s hungry for answers and revenge. He’s framed for the whole fiasco and spends a decade in prison. Our story begins with one such Ranger named Mace Griffin, who, along with his squad, responds to a distress call that ends up being a trap, leaving only Mace as a survivor. Soon their alliance is undone by greed and in-fighting and space police called Rangers are instituted to quell the disorder.
The game’s setup is that three major races-the humans, the ape-like Jeldari and the lizard-like Valekans-are in a golden age of space colonization that brings prosperity for all when they uncover the resource-rich Vagner System.
